The Short Answer
When homeowners in the Omaha area ask what a flooring installation includes, they usually want to know whether the price and the process cover only the new planks or the whole job. With our team, a flooring installation covers tearing out the old floor, preparing the subfloor and installing the new planks, along with the stair nosing, trim and transitions that finish the work. Most of what we install is LVP, which is luxury vinyl plank.
Step One: Tearing Out the Old Floor
A new floor should not be laid on top of one that is worn out. The first part of the job is removing what is there now so we can see the surface underneath. You can see what this stage looks like in the kitchen photo on our flooring installation page, where the old floor has been taken down to bare subfloor before anything new goes in.
Step Two: Prepping the Subfloor
The subfloor is what the new floor depends on, so it gets attention before any plank is laid. Once the old floor is out, we look at the surface underneath and prepare it for the new planks. This is the step people tend to overlook when they compare quotes, and it is part of every installation we do.
Step Three: Installing the New Planks
With the surface ready, the new planks go in. We install flooring in kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and on stairs, and we work through the home room by room.
Kitchens and hallways
These are the rooms where a continuous run of plank makes the biggest difference, because the floor is seen from several rooms at once. Our photos show dark LVP running the length of a kitchen and past the oven and counters, and a light gray plank floor under red cabinets.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms are small, which means more cuts around fixtures and edges. Tell us about the room when you call so we can talk it through with you.
Stairs
Stairs are finished to match the rooms they connect. The planks wrap each tread and riser, and matching stair nosing is part of the installation, so the staircase looks like it belongs with the floor at the top and bottom.
Step Four: Trim and Transitions
The edges are what make a floor look finished. Trim and transitions are handled as part of the same job, so you are not left with a new floor and a pile of loose pieces to sort out afterward.
What to Tell Us When You Call
You do not need exact measurements to start the conversation. It helps if you can tell us:
- Which rooms you would like done, and whether you want stairs included
- What the floor is like now
- Roughly when you would like the work finished
With that, we can talk through a quote with you. Call (402) 687-6539 or send a message from our contact page. We are open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
